Etisalat by e&, the largest telecommunications operator in the UAE, and China's Huawei Technologies have become the first to test 6 GHz spectrum in the Middle East and North Africa.

According to Etisalat, by harmonising the 6GHz spectrum, improved 5G network performance can be achieved. The new spectrum will lead to new services and innovative applications while improving efficiency and reducing costs. For example, in healthcare, advanced telemedicine with remote surgery will become possible.

The 6 GHz band is considered the most suitable medium for 5G connectivity, and its wide and contiguous channels will increase network availability without the need for network densification.

Etisalat said:

"5G use cases today accelerate digital transformation across industries and sectors, unleashing new waves of innovation that will benefit billions."
