Architectural firm Znera Space has created a concept for the Downtown Circle, which will surround the Burj Khalifa, the world's tallest building, in Dubai. The ring is planned to be 550 metres high and have a diameter of 3 kilometres.

The ring will be divided into smaller parts, inside which there will be residential, cultural, public and commercial buildings. And along the outer perimeter of the ring it is envisaged to build tram lines.

The design was developed during a pandemic that affected the life perception in skyscrapers. The architects have tried to design a new vertical city in which all the key urban planning issues, including food delivery, rubbish collection and transport operation are to be addressed.

The Downtown Circle consists of five levels and has five pillars. The span of the circle consists of two rings connected by a green strip called Skypark, which will connect the upper stories with the lower stories and create a green urban ecosystem, as wetlands, waterfalls, tropical vegetation and different flora will be created there.

It is also proposed to create areas for rainwater harvesting, solar energy generation, carbon storage and pollutant filtration.
