Following the debut of the Alpha5 in prototype form, joined by the trio of concepts from its fictional past in 1:4 scale, DeLorean unveiled two more concepts.

The first one is the 2024 Alpha5 Plasmatail, a wagon-style variant of the grand tourer, and the second — the 2040 Omega, a futuristic baja-inspired concept envisioning the distant future of the brand.

The concepts were unveiled on August 20 during the brand’s “A Glimpse Into The Future” event.

The 2024 Alpha5 Plasmatail is a fully electric vehicle based on the regular Alpha5, but it sports a different roofline and a redesigned tail. It was “designed as an extension of the original coupe.

Just like the original, the Plasmatail has 4 seats but offers extra storage space. The rear side of the car is pretty much identical to the coupe version, with most of the same elements present, except there’s no louvered rear window, and the roofline is sloped down and ended with a spoiler.

The production of Alpha5 is expected to start in 2024, with a limited number of 88 units.

As for Omega 2040 concept, it is rooted in Baja mysticism, and represents the idea of what DeLorean machines might look like in 18 years. In the world of 2040, it seems drivers and passengers will be blinkered and prevented from looking sideways, as side windows are dispensed with.

The iconic slatted rear window is reinterpreted as a series of rising hexagons, while the front of the car receives a loop of bodywork. The concept also comes with chunky tires.
