A week before the announcement of the new iPhones, it has come to light that iPhone 14 Pro and iPhone Pro Max may get slightly different design for the front-facing camera and Face ID sensor holes than expected, MacRumors writes citing its anonymous source.
Earlier, insiders agreed that the new products with the Pro versions would have two cutouts: a wide one on the left for Face ID and a round one on the right for the front-facing camera.
However, according to new reports, Apple may disable the pixels between the cutouts at the iOS level so that visually it's all seen as one. The company may take this step for the sake of symmetry and aesthetics.
At the same time, MacRumors' source claims that iOS will be able to intentionally darken the areas around the cutout, for example to accommodate any icons there. Or even expand the blackout area into a rounded square to display notifications there.
Recall that the launch of the new iPhones will take place on September 7 at the Steve Jobs Theatre, which is located in Apple Park. Journalists received invitations with the slogan "Far out."
