KhalifaSat, the first satellite built in the United Arab Emirates, has sent new pictures of popular Dubai landmarks such as Burj Khalifa, Ain Dubai, Burj Al Arab, The Palm Jumeirah and the World Islands to Earth. The images were shared by the Dubai Media Office.

KhalifaSat has been orbiting the Earth since October 2018. It was launched to monitor Earth from the Japanese space centre Tanegashima aboard a Mitsubishi Heavy Industries H-IIA rocket.

The satellite was developed by a team of Emirati engineers from the Mohammed Bin Rashid Space Centre (MBRSC). It is designed to capture images at a resolution of just 70cm, meaning that each pixel represents less than 1 metre of imagery.
