Russia and UAE hold talks on accepting 'Mir' payment system cards, according to Russian media.

Moscow and Abu Dhabi have reportedly been in talks for a while, with Central banks and commercial banks representatives meeting regularly.

We hope that the use of Mir cards will be possible after we devise a cooperation agreement. We hope that the working group will come to a positive conclusion,

Mohammed al-Ketbi, head of economic department at the UAE embassy in Moscow, told Russian news agency.

Currently, "Mir" cards are accepted in ten countries such as Turkey, Vietnam, Armenia, Uzbekistan, Belarus, Kazakhstan, Kyrgyzstan, Tajikistan, South Ossetia and Abkhazia with Bahrain recently joining the list.

At the end of June, Bahraini ambassador in Moscow announced plans to start accepting Mir in the kingdom.
