Chinese company Xiaomi, one the leading smartphone producers in the world, plans to start producing EVs within the next two years. The company has already confirmed that it will mass-produce its first car in the first quarter of 2024.

Moreover, earlier this year, Xiaomi revealed plans to invest around 10 billion yuan (roughly $1.5 billion) over 10 years in self-driving cars.

Rumors speculate that Xiaomi’s car will be completely autonomous self-driving EV that will be able to compete with the likes of Tesla and other EVs.

Recently, a Chinese social network Weibo blogger spotted a Xiaomi self-driving test car on the street, which signals the company is getting ahead with developments.

The car has a sleek design and features a lidar sensor installed on its roof. While some users noted that the design looks great, this seems to be just a test car and the final design will likely change. It’s even possible that the car seen in the image belongs to some other brand and Xiaomi is just using it to test Lidar sensors and other self-driving technologies.
