Apple has started rolling out a fresh firmware update for its AirTag device, marking the first update for the compact tracking device since October.

The latest firmware, identified as version 2.0.73 with build number 2A73, is set to be gradually introduced to all AirTags globally, with the rollout expected to be relatively slow.

As with previous updates, approximately one percent of AirTags will receive the update on the first day. Subsequently, more AirTags will be given access to download and install the firmware over the next few weeks.

While Apple has not disclosed specific details regarding the changes implemented in the firmware, it is anticipated to primarily consist of bug fixes and performance enhancements.

Users are unable to manually trigger the update process for their AirTag, as the firmware will be automatically installed once their AirTag comes within Bluetooth range of their iPhone, operating on iOS 14.5 or later.
