In an effort to refine the online shopping experience, Google has unveiled a new feature allowing users to rate products with a simple thumbs-up or thumbs-down.

This enhancement, known as Style Recommendations, aims to personalize search results based on individual preferences, akin to popular rating systems seen on platforms like Tinder or Netflix.

The Style Recommendations feature, available to signed-in shoppers in the US, enables users to fine-tune their search by expressing their satisfaction or dissatisfaction with the various items they come across. Once users have identified the items they like, they can refine their preferences by specifying their preferred brands, giving them instant access to other offerings from the range.

The initiative builds on Google's previous attempts to use artificial intelligence to help with shopping. In the past, the company has tested image generation tools and virtual fitting features to help users find and visualize clothing items more efficiently. Now integrated into Google Shopping, these features utilize generative artificial intelligence technology to improve the shopping experience.
