In a strategic move aimed at enriching its content offerings, Yahoo has announced the acquisition of Artifact, the AI-powered news app developed by Instagram co-founders Kevin Systrom and Mike Krieger.

While the financial terms of the deal remain undisclosed, this acquisition marks a significant integration of Artifact's technology into Yahoo's ecosystem, particularly its flagship Yahoo News app.

Originally intended as a news app, Artifact evolved into a social media platform before deciding to wind down operations. Its AI-driven technology curates personalized news feeds, aligning with Yahoo's goal of delivering trusted content.

Under the agreement, Artifact will cease to exist as a standalone app, with its AI-driven personalization technology set to be seamlessly integrated across Yahoo's platforms in the coming months. Systrom and Krieger will play advisory roles during the transition period, leveraging their expertise to ensure a smooth integration process.
