A recent survey by Havas Group in the Middle East showed that 95% of the UAE population is familiar with the world of metaverses, while this number drops to only 60% in Japan and 73% in the Czech Republic. The report surveyed nearly 15,000 men and women aged 18 and over in emerging markets, including the UAE, revealed that 73% of the general public has heard of metaverse.
The report confirms that the residents of the UAE are the most compatible with the world of metaverse in emerging markets as well as among the most knowledgeable about metaverses and the details of this world. Many are familiar with what “non-fungible tokens” NFTs mean, games, live virtual parties, even avatars, digital clothing and live events on metaverse.
The report also showed that emerging markets and countries with younger populations, such as the UAE, are more attuned to these new technological frontiers and potential. Thus, 95% or more are familiar with metaverses in the UAE.
More than 50% of the total users surveyed admitted spending time with their “real” friends on “Metaverse” through gaming platforms, while “Metaverse” also represents an opportunity to experience one’s identity through avatars and other means, but it is also a space where people can feel More freedom to express themselves.
Experts say that there will be a need to develop user-centered guidelines on ethics and governance that address various aspects of the metaverse world, including decentralization and interoperability between different technologies, in addition to regulating data collection and protection issues.
